Students’ Source(s) of Funds Information on COF
It is important to include your source(s) of funding for the duration of your program at Gallaudet University on your Certification of Finances (COF) Form. (Examples appear in the box below.) You MUST submit documents for each source of funds you mark. Please note that it will be automatically denied if you don’t mark your source(s) on the form. Documents must be in English and bear a signature, seal, or letterhead from an official agency. These documents must be less than three months old when applying to Gallaudet. Once you are admitted – and if your documents are over three months old – please provide updated documents to International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).

Please note that the letter from the government/embassy or charitable organizations must include the following verification items in the letter:
- Student’s first and last name
- Fees that will be covered including:
- Tuition
- Health Insurance
- Health Service
- Student Activities
- Room
- Board
- Technology
- Books/Supplies
- Dependents/Spouse
- Term (e.g., fall 2023, spring and fall 2024)
- Name of student’s government sponsor
- Telephone number of the student’s sponsor
- Sponsor’s Email address
- Original signature
- Signatory’s title
- Date
- Letterhead
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
Notice of Assessment (NOA) letter from the Ontario Student Assistant Program (OSAP) is acceptable. Note: Submitting the OSAP summary is not an acceptable substitute.
Government of Saudi Arabia
Due to a new admission procedure, the “Letter For Admission Purposes Only” from the Saudi Cultural Mission (SACM) is not required. The Financial Guarantee letter from SACM is acceptable.
Scholarships and/or Assistantship from Gallaudet University
Students who have received scholarships and/or assistantships from Gallaudet University may still be required to make payment in advance for the remaining balance after the scholarship/assistantship has been applied to their account.
Important Information
Gallaudet University reserves the right to require advance payment of one semester or full academic year's costs before issuing a Form I-20 or DS-2019. Student Financial Services will hold this payment in trust and apply to the student's account when the student officially enrolls. If the student cannot enroll due to visa denial or other reasons, the money will be refunded upon written request.
